Magill slugs his Cardinals past Kitchener 8-5 - Hamilton Cardinals

Evan Magill's two-homer, four-RBI night lifts Hamilton to an 8-5 win in Kitchener.

Evan Magill drove in four runs with two home runs Tuesday night at Jack Couch Park, powering the Hamilton Cardinals past the Kitchener Panthers 8-5. The Cardinals wasted no time. Darlin German opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning, and Magill followed by launching a three-run homer to put Hamilton up 4-0. Brandon Nicoll kept the pressure on in the second, delivering an RBI single that stretched the lead to 5-0. Kitchener finally answered in the bottom of the third when Petey Kiefer singled home Zane Skanski. Magill struck again in the fifth, sending his second home run of the night over the fence to make it 6-1. The Panthers rallied late, pushing across three runs in the eighth on a two-run homer from Trent Lawson, but Hamilton tacked on an insurance run in the ninth and closed it out. Freisis Adames earned the win with two scoreless innings and three strikeouts. Jorge Minyety took the loss after giving up seven runs on nine hits over five innings. The Cardinals move to 18-11 on the season. They open a series in Barrie on Thursday, while Kitchener heads to Welland the same night.
