Hector Yan pitched five scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out nine, leading the Hamilton Cardinals to an 11-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday night at Bernie Arbour Stadium. The Cardinals opened the scoring in the first inning with four runs. Darlin German drove in Brandon Nicoll with a single, followed by an RBI single from Evan Magill . Reyny Reyes added another run with his single, and Anderson Feliz reached on a fielder's choice to cap the frame. Hamilton added one more in the second inning when German's sacrifice fly brought home Angel Guerrero . They continued to build their lead in the third, highlighted by a two-run double from Jaden Brown , scoring Reyes and Carlos Dominguez . The Cardinals scored four more runs in the fourth inning, starting with an RBI single from Feliz and another run from a walk to Reyes. Brown's double pushed across two more runs, extending the lead to 11-0. Toronto managed to score in the ninth inning when Dionysius Chailtas reached on an error, allowing Dennis Dei Baning to score. Wilgenis Alvarado took the loss for the Maple Leafs, allowing six runs on eight hits in two innings. Frankie Gulko pitched 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief, striking out four. Hamilton improved to 14-8 with the win, while Toronto fell to 6-17. The Cardinals will face Guelph on Tuesday, while the Maple Leafs will host Brantford on Wednesday.
